Q. What are some of the recent projects that you've been working on?
A. "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" takes up most of my time right now because we're still shooting actually, we're shooting until the end of January. I do actually have a movie coming out, I did a movie a little while back with Randy Quaid and it's called Balls Out: Gary The Tennis Coach.
Q. What can you tell us is new this season with "Secret Life of the American Teenager" and with your character?
A. There are a lot of twists coming up, I know that Ricky's dad comes into play and so there is that whole dynamic. There is a lot more drama with the baby of course, and with Henry in particular, the whole Ashley thing. Alice comes into play a little bit but I can't give away too many details. There is a lot of stuff going down, I'll just say that.
Q. What is it about the show that made you want to be a part of it?
A. First of all, having any job in this business I am totally grateful for. This job in particular, the name Brenda Hampton was tied to it and we all know she has a great track record with "7th Heaven" that lasted basically forever. That's definitely something I wanted to be a part of, I just feel safe about it.
Q. Is there anything about the role that you find challenging?
A. Thankfully the people that I work with, the cast and the crew, makes it such an easy job. Sometimes the monologues that we have get a bit testy. Whenever you're on set sometimes your brain just turns off. As far as the role goes, I think everything is pretty straightforward and I just have a blast with it.
Q. Where do you draw from for your portrayal of Henry?
A. When I got the breakdown for the role when I first auditioned I believe it said somewhat geeky. I've had some experience with roles like that. I did a show called "Zoey 101" where my character's actual name was Firewire. I think Brenda, the producers, and everyone trusted that I knew how to fill that role. I didn't actually have to train that hard to be geeky. I guess it's second nature to me.
Q. Did you ever think that the show would become as successful as it has?
A. Besides seeing Brenda's name tied to it I still was a little hesitant because in this business I've done a couple pilots and with TV shows you just never know. The success that this show is getting, I actually just read an article about the ratings for our show for the season premiere of season two. We did awesome and one of my castmates texted me and said we beat "Gossip Girl."
Q. Is cast chemistry something that has come natural or did it take some time to develop throughout filming?
A. I remember the first day that we actually all met we did a table read on the lot, the whole cast, and afterwards everyone started hugging. Maybe because we were all leaving but we didn't really know each other yet. I thought that was surprising because I've been to a few table reads and we all just connected. We all hang out on the weekends consistently and it's great.
Q. What do you think it is about the show that continues to draw viewers in?
A. I would say that the kids look like kids, that's one major thing, and I think it's realistic. I think it tries to portray as much as it can on ABC Family what it's like to be in high school. It talks about sex and pregnancy, and sadly enough, this is what happens in high schools in America these days. I hope that parents are watching this with their kids and it opens communication between them.
Q. What would you like to say to all of the fans and supporters of the show?
A. I would like to say thank you so much for watching. You've all been unbelievable, I never would have expected this, how much success the show would be getting. It's all because of you, the fans that watch, seriously, it's like a dream job.

Secret Life Fans: What has been your favorite episode of Secret Life so far and why?
Allen: The pilot episode was my favorite to film. We got to really meet everyone. Since production had just started and to make everything run smoothly they had every character come to set everyday. Very amusing episode.
Secret Life Fans: What's the funniest thing that's happened on set?
Allen:In season one there's that famous hallway scene where everyone is marching together with the band. Needless to say the cast and I had a fun time shooting that one.
Secret Life Fans: If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Allen: Probably to fly. Having so much freedom sounds ideal. Or invulnerability...basically all of superman's powers.
Secret Life Fans: Are you as close with Amy Rider as your character is?
Allen: Amy and I do hang out off set, watch movies and such but no we're not as close as Alice and Henry.
Isn't Allen funny? What a cool guy!
